Edward M. Said: il romanzo è anche “a dramatization of Marlowhimself, the former wanderer in colonial regions, telling hisstory to a group of British listeners at a particular time and ina specific place. That this group of people is drawn largelyfrom the business world is Conrad’s way of emphasizing thefact that during the 1890s the business of empire, once anadventurous and often individualistic enterprise, had becomethe empire of business”.
